Bellevue University began in 1966 and has been a trailblazer in education ever since. The college began when the Bellevue, Nebraska, Chamber of Commerce, led by Bill Brooks, set an institute of higher learning as their number one priority. Bellevue was a growing city and home to Oifutt Air Force Base. At a chamber meeting, Brooks requested five minutes to make a presentation, but the members were o intrigued, he spoke for more than 30 minutes.

Out of this meeting, Bellevue College was born. One year after the meeting, the college was a reality and, since its humble beginnings at a steakhouse, has established itself as a world leader in adult education. It was one of the first colleges to offer accredited online education and the first to offer a Master of Business Administration online.

Today, there are more than 48,000 alumni and nearly 10,000 students are enrolled each year. The university offers over 70 degrees in career fields that are growing rapidly worldwide.
