Rosemont College was established in 1921 by Sister Cornelia Connelly and the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, a Roman Catholic order first approved under Pope Leo XIII in 1887. Nuns welcomed the initial class of seven women to Joseph Sinnott's donated 32-room mansion that August. By 1931, Rosemont had expanded to a 56-acre Greater Philadelphia campus in Lower Merion Township. Fifty years later, Rosemont College added its first master's degree in computing education. In 2009, the former women's school became coeducational and earned initial regional accreditation. Rosemont College Accreditation Details
On June 23, 2011, Rosemont College passed an in-depth institutional evaluation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) to reaffirm the Level III accreditation with commendation for 10 more years under its 13th president, Dr. Sharon Latchaw Hirsh, who earned the 1991 Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching. Located 8.9 miles southeast via Lancaster Avenue in Philadelphia, this elite six-state Mid-Atlantic accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to test the academic quality of Rosemont's 26 baccalaureates, nine master's, and four certificate offerings. Rosemont also belongs to the Association of Catholic Colleges & Universities and National Association of Independent Colleges & Universities.
Rosemont College Application Requirements
Gaining acceptance into Rosemont College is classified "moderately difficult" by Peterson's because only 916 of the 1,315 Fall 2017 applicants were triumphant for 69 percent being accepted. Post-grad Ravens flocking to the online division must verify completion of an accredited four-year baccalaureate in relevant fields. For example, the Master of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management requires majors like Public Safety, Criminal Justice, or Law Enforcement. The Online Master of Business Administration mandates prerequisites in college-level Composition and Algebra. Graduate School entrants generally need a minimum 3.0 GPA with few exceptions. Taking the GRE or GMAT is wholly optional, though scores in the top 50th percentile could help. Non-native English speakers must achieve at least 7.0 on the IELTS, 79 on the TOEFL iBT, or its equivalent.

For 2018-19, Rosemont College has announced the "Our Tuition Promise" initiative to lower costs by 43 percent! The Graduate School has priced each three-credit course at $1,950 for $650 per credit. Taking six credits would equal $3,900 while nine credits would total $5,850. Ambitious master's majors enrolling in 12 credits per term pay $7,800. Note that the online technology fee adds $35 per credit or $315 each semester full-time. Therefore, the 33-credit Online MS in Strategic Leadership would bill $22,605 over two years. The MS in Homeland Security and Emergency Management charges $24,660 for 36 credits online.
According to the NCES College Navigator, the Financial Aid Office helps 99 percent of full-time Rosemont Ravens soar with assistance packages averaging $12,337 each for $7.14 million combined. Collegiate funds include the Cornelian Scholarship, Maroon & Gray Award, Katherine Dwyer Grant, Doyle Family Scholarship, Bernice Bertrand Scholarship, Dayle Louise Allison Scholarship, Marianne Nader McGonigle Scholarship, and W.W. Master of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management
Launched in Spring 2017, the MS in Homeland Security and Emergency Management attracts Rosemont post-grads dedicated to defending God's creation by designing safety precautions against terroristic or natural disasters.
