The University of Toledo was originally incorporated in 1872 as the Toledo University of Arts and Trades by publisher Jesup Wakeman Scott. Bankrupt after six years, Toledo acquired the land and developed the Manual Training School. By the 1960s, Toledo became one of the Buckeye State's three biggest municipal universities. Merged with the Medical University of Ohio by Governor Bob Taft in 2006, Toledo is now endowed for $416.2 million to educate 23,085 Rockets as a public, research-intensive APLU member of the Urban 13. Since 1998, learning has also extended beyond the 813-acre West Toledo campus with online courses on Blackboard. University of Toledo Accreditation Details

In 2012, the University of Toledo had its Level VII regional accreditation renewed from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association under president Sharon Gaber. This institutional approval certifies Toledo's 105 master's and 40 doctoral programs, including off-site in Sandusky, North Ridgeville, and online, for the U.S. Department of Education and Ohio Department of Education through 2022. University of Toledo Application Requirements

Classified as "selective" for online master's study, the University of Toledo had a 94 percent acceptance rate overall in Fall 2016. The College of Graduate Studies only considers applicants with four-year bachelor's from regionally accredited schools. Specialist or doctoral programs require a master's unless otherwise noted. Previous academics must be compiled for a minimum 2.7 GPA, though some programs like the Online M.A. Criminal Justice expect a 3.0. Unless GPAs are above 3.5, taking standardized tests is necessary. Toledo Rockets need a minimum GRE score of 150 or GMAT score of 450. English language learners must've taken the TOEFL or IELTS within the last two years for score above 80 and 6.5 respectively.

The University of Toledo recommends that online master's applicants submit the Graduate Application online using their six-digit PIN at least three weeks before varying deadlines. For instance, the Master's of Science in Engineering program considers applications until March 1st while the Master's in Public Health has two deadlines for June 15th and October 15th. Tuition and Financial Aid

Full-time graduates at the University of Toledo from Ohio are billed mean tuition of $13,166 annually. Non-residents taking nine or more credits pay $23,502 on average. However, when studying online, Toledo charges $548 per credit or $1,916 per three-credit master's course. Online post-grads also skip the costly room and board expense of $11,724 each year. The 40-credit, three-semester sequence qualifies graduates for American Board for Transplant Certification after studying organ and tissue procurement with state-of-the-art simulations and clinical internships.

Master's of Science Energy Engineering

Reaccredited by the ABET in 2017, the Master's of Science Energy Engineering at Toledo immerses online post-grads in studying the technological processes for powering sustainable quality of life with renewable energy sources. Directed by Dr. Abdollah Afjeh, the 30-credit curriculum offers a Coursework Option or Project Option for specializing in power generation and distribution, energy utilization and management, or advanced energy systems leadership.
